This past Tuesday, The 2012 Jagermeister Music Tour featuring The Lonely Forest and headlining act Portugal. The Man, made a stop in Buffalo, NY’s Town Ballroom. The Lonely Forest was a great opening act for the show, the crowd seemed to really enjoy their energetic performance. The DJ/Host for the night, “Mr. DeeJay,” spun some pretty good old school music in between sets. Portugal. The Man came on about 10:15 and the place was popping with energy. The first few songs had some of the crowd around me singing every word. They ran through great songs like Work All Day, Everyone is Golden, Lovers in Love and People say off their 2009 release “The Satanic Satanist.” They have a sound that reminds you of the Black Keys mixed with some Radiohead psychedelic type jams and amazing harmonies, something for everyone. Throughout the night I saw people headbanging during a rocking “Helter Skelter” tease, and then at times, couples dancing slowly together. Despite recently replacing their drummer, the band didn’t seem to miss a step that night. The stage set up, and lights were a great, unique touch to an already great performance. This is a band that should not be missed! Grab their latest Album, “In the Mountain in the Cloud” available on iTunes.
